MAKE A DIFFERENCE FUND
As a Group we want to assist others in the community 'make a difference' by enhancing our parish environment. To help achieve this objective we have set up a Fund from which small grants of money can be made available for suitable projects - for example funding for the school, youth groups or clubs. Examples would be: helping to fund an educational initiative such as the school's gardening club or to provide plants and materials for a club wishing to make up floral displays which will be on public view. We may also be willing to support projects on privately owned land which have public access - on the cliffs for example. Can you help?
There are many ways in which you can help us 'Make a Difference' to our Parish and make it an even nicer place to live, work or visit, from the 'Kerb appeal' of your own garden to helping out on larger projects. Our 'Give an Hour' campaign was launched to show people that we aren't looking for a large commitment, but that something as small as giving an hour a month of your time can really make a huge difference.
Keeping the parish litter free
Each year Deputy De Lisle organises a 'litter pick' on L'Eree Beach. The aim is to encourage and educate beach users about the importance of looking after our environment. Not just from an aesthetic point of view but also for the wellbeing of our wildlife. Please do your bit - by taking your litter home with you or popping it in a bin.
Tidy gardens
Last year we asked all the house holders along our Floral Guernsey competition route to give their gardens a 'Spring clean' - well they did just that and impressed the judges. This year we'd like to extend the garden 'Spring clean' to the whole parish and ask everyone whose property has a 'road frontage' to keep it looking good.
Plant trees
Over the years St Peters has lost a huge number of trees and we are keen to replace them, creating a legacy for future generations. Do you have a bare hedgerow, corner of a field or an area of unused land where you could plant trees?
Or you may like to consider planting a tree somewhere on your property to mark a special occasion or in memory of a loved one.
Working with the Men of the Trees and the Green Legacy Project we are able to offer guidance on selecting the right species, planting and after care . Please get in touch by please email click here
A little TLC?
Do you know of any public areas in the parish which are in need of a little tender loving care? In addition to the permanent landscaping and conservation projects we are already involved in we are keen to support initiatives to 'beautify' our parish in other ways too.
Our motto is 'Orguillaeux d'not'e paraesse' which is Guernsey French for 'Proud of our Parish' - we hope that you are too!
